This non-accredited course describes the skills and knowledge required to perform peripheral intravenous (PIV) cannulation.
It includes safety issues related to PIV cannulation, insertion of a PIV cannular, maintenance of a PIV cannular site, complications that can occur with a PIV site, and removal of the PIV cannular.
Participants receive online learning and knowledge assessment, followed by 2 hours of face-to-face practical skill training and assessment.
This course provides the underpinning knowledge and skill requisition to seek endorsement for cannulation in the workplace. While this course is non-accredited it includes material and assessment in line with industry standards.
